Technical Considerations for Migration Kits
Flexible Upgrades: Replace the amplifier separately from the existing motor, giving you more flexibility for staged upgrades or backup kit planning.
Motor Replacement Requirement: A motor cannot be replaced on its own. Because MR-J4 motors use higher encoder resolution, the corresponding amplifier must also be replaced.
Compatibility Assurance: Older MR-J2/J2S amplifiers cannot process feedback from MR-J4 motors, so replacing the required components together helps maintain reliable operation.
Minimized Downtime: Separate kit options make it easier to plan upgrades efficiently while keeping production running smoothly.
What It Does: MR-Configurator2 converts existing MR-J2/J2S amplifier parameters into the MR-J4 format, helping ensure the servo system operates correctly after the upgrade.
No License? No Problem: If you do not have MR-Configurator2, you can send Shaltz Automation your existing parameter file and our team can complete the conversion for you.
Why It Matters: Accurate parameter conversion helps preserve motion profiles, safety limits, and operating settings, reducing the risk of errors or unexpected downtime.
Ease and Confidence: Whether parameters are converted in-house or with support from Shaltz Automation, the process helps make your MR-J4 upgrade smooth, efficient, and reliable.
Advanced Control Modes: CP and CL series amplifiers may use specialized positioning methods, including point tables and other modes that do not automatically convert to MR-J4.
Manual Entry May Be Required: Some settings may need to be manually configured on the new MR-J4 amplifier to help preserve existing motion profiles and system behavior.
Our Guidance: Shaltz Automation can gather information about your CP/CL units and identify the correct software steps needed to support a smoother upgrade.
Why It Matters: Properly addressing CP/CL model requirements helps avoid unexpected behavior, maintain precision, and minimize downtime during migration.

Migrate Your Servo System with Confidence
Moving from MR-J2/J2S to MR-J4 technology can bring up important questions about compatibility, wiring, parameter conversion, and installation. Get clear guidance to help you select the right kit, complete the conversion process accurately, and move through your upgrade efficiently while helping keep production online.
Shaltz Automation can support Mitsubishi MR-J2 and MR-J2S servo migrations across A, B, CP, and CL series. A-Type and B-Type applications are the most common, while CP and CL models may require additional review because of advanced positioning methods or specialized settings.
In many cases, the amplifier can be replaced separately from the existing motor, which can support staged upgrades or backup kit planning. However, MR-J4 motors cannot be replaced on their own. Because MR-J4 motors use higher encoder resolution, the corresponding amplifier must also be replaced to maintain proper operation.
